Wake Up Dead Man is a wonderful surprise. I expected to like it, as I have like the other two Knives Out movies. But WUDM is beyond wonderful. The mystery, the whodunit, the clues and the suspects are all just right. And what a cast: Jeremy Renner, Glen Close, Andrew Scott ... and of course Daniel Craig. Give it an A for the A list actors. But the Josh O'Connor character is the amazing key. He plays Father Jud better than I would ever have expected to see. He moves from the frantic clue-chaser to the caring pastor with a stunning grace. And his last scene with Glen Close is one for the ages. It is rare to come across a commercial movie that treats Christian characters and the church with any kind of sympanthy or understanding. And when will you ever see a movie with a dying character's last word being "grace?"
