This Unsafe Star

LHS world premiere of This Unsafe Star: The Emmett Till Story, a play by faculty member Chris Maly with original music by students Matthew Boring and Christiana Wismer.

In 1955 at the age of 14, Emmett Till was brutally murdered as he visited relatives in Mississippi. This was one of the early triggers of the Civil Rights movement. At the trial of Emmett's murderers, his great-uncle became the first black man in Mississippi history to accuse a white man of a crime, pointing to one of the accused, "Dar he."
